BERTILLE ACHARD DE LA VENTE

BERTILLE ACHARD DE LA VENTE

Bertille is a French artist who, after living in Paris and London, settled with her family in Siena, Italy. In her work, she explores her own paths through those of matter. On the border between form and formlessness, she works with the accidents of movement, listens to their traces, and composes signs from them.

Bertille’s work layers emotions. It tames impulses, rhythmically guided by spontaneous gestures. Antithesis serves as the cornerstone of her artistic production. She works primarily with acrylic, whose substance she prepares herself using pigments, but also with ink, offering total fluidity to her gestures.

Nothing is abstract in her painting, she would tell you; everything makes sense, provided you resist the order of discourse. The spontaneity of her gestures reveals the sensitivity of her language and the poetry of her universe, reinforced by the use of a lexical field reduced to the bare essentials.
